Hand Hygiene (Hand Washing)

Hand hygiene is the foundation of infection control. This skill teaches proper handwashing technique including lathering all surfaces for at least 20 seconds, cleaning fingernails, and proper drying technique.

• Address client and introduce yourself properly
• Lather all surfaces with friction for at least 20 seconds
• Clean fingernails against opposite palm
• Use paper towels to turn off faucet without contamination
